GUWAHATI, April 10 - The Kamrup election district administration has completed all arrangements for conducting free, fair and peaceful State Assembly election in its four LACs, an official press release received here stated.
Necessary police and para-military forces have already been deployed throughout the election district. A total of 6,44,633 (male 3,32,307 and female 3,12,326) voters will exercise their franchise in 832 polling stations across Boko, Chaygaon, Palashbari and Hajo LACs under Kamrup election district on April 11.
Out of 832 polling stations, women will solely run 8 polling stations in four LACs. The total contesting candidates in the four LACs are 32.
For smooth conduct of the electioneering process, the Kamrup election district administration has divided the entire election district into 22 zones and 95 sectors and trained up 3,644 polling personnel who will act as Presiding Officers and Polling Officers in their respective polling stations.
Micro Observers have been appointed in 100 polling stations to monitor the process of election. Webcasting facility has been installed in 32 strategic polling stations to bring transparency, besides close monitoring of the voting process on the day of poll. In all, 98 videographers have been detailed for recording the poll process.
The election district administration has already identified the disabled and elderly voters and made necessary arrangements to provide necessary assistance to them. In all the polling stations, the first disabled and elderly voter will be felicitated. In all model polling stations, necessary arrangements have been made for lactating women and elderly persons by providing sitting facilities, extra covered shed, etc.
On April 10, polling parties for 814 polling stations collected their allotted EVMs and other required documents from the Collection Centre set up at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium at Amingaon and left for their assigned polling stations along with the police personnel.
