Kalpurush Panjika predicts retirement of CM

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 20 The 28th edition of the Assamese almanac Kalpurush Purnanga Panjika which was released on Thursday has predicted the retirement of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi from politics and his re-instatement to a very respectable post in the Assamese New Year. Gogois health may suddenly deteriorate says the almanac.

The Kalpurush has also made the forecast of an alliance Government of three parties in the State.

It needs to be mentioned here that this almanac has succeeded in increasing its circulation since its first publication and has become a household name in the State. Publisher Ranjit Kumar Saikia informed that this year forty thousand copies of the almanac have been printed and several thousand more would follow. In view of the growing demand, we decided to increase the number of our copies, said Saikia.

The almanac apart from predicting on the socio-political and economic developments in the country and the State, has also mentioned a few words on the role of the media in the New Year. It says that media would play a proactive role in unearthing the negative doings of the government.

Political life in the State would be filled with upheavals as many stalwarts are going to lose in the coming Assembly elections, said Pulin Chandra Dev Sarma, editor of Kalpurush.

Sarma further said that as per the calculations based on the position of the planets, the Congress is in a favourable position and would win more seats than its rival the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) in the coming elections. The AGP though it would be able to gain the confidence of the people and win more seats compared to its performance in the last Assembly elections, it would however be second to the Congress.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh which is keen to improve its seat tally would not fare well according to the almanac. The almanac says that internal dissent and weak leadership would not allow the BJP to realise its dream of getting the mandate of the electorate. The BJP will be in the third spot as far as winning of seats is concerned.

On the other hand, the almanac says that there would be snapping of ties between the Congress and its ally BPF. There would be no solution to the ULFA problem and chances are strong of several ministers being targeted by the extremist outfits in the New Year according to the almanac.
