Kalita Janagusthi Sanmilan meet begins today

GOLAGHAT, Oct 24 � The eighth biennial meeting of the Kalita Janagusthi Sanmilan, Golaghat district committee, is going to be held with a two-day programme from tomorrow at Nabadipta Sanskritik Sangha, Thurajan, Golaghat, under the aegis of the Thurajan Alami-Mazuli gaon Anchalik Samiti.

The programmes include flag hoisting, swahid tarpan, tree plantation, painting competition, diha naam and aai naam competition, seminar, open meeting, cultural night, etc.

The flag will be hoisted by Dr MP Bordoloi, president of the district committee. This will be followed by swahid tarpan by Nagen Tamuly, president, Alami Gaon Sakha Samiti. The sapling plantation programme will be inaugurated by Deepak Dutta, Ranger, Forest department. Competitions on painting, diha naam and aai naam will be also held.

A seminar on the topic, �History of the Kalita community and its future� will be conducted by Upen Dutta, president, Nagar Anchalik Samiti in which the resource persons will be Hemendra Kumar Bhuyan, adviser, KJSA, Gangadhar Dutta, vice president, GZKJA and Amuly Barman, ex-professor, Cotton College. The seminar will be inaugurated by Dr Ajit Barua, prominent writer and former chairman, GMB.

The open session will be presided over by Dr MP Bordoloi, president of the GZKJSA. It will be inaugurated by Bipin Chandra Bora, vice president, central committee. Soneswar Kalita, president, central committee, will be the appointed speaker. The chief guests will be Dr Ramen Kakoty, secretary, central committee of KJSA, Rabin Bora, advocate, and Arabinda Kalita, vice president, central committee.
