Kalita Janagusthi Sanmilan meet at Golaghat

GOLAGHAT, Nov 23 - An emergent meeting of the Kalita Janagusthi Sanmilan Assam (KJSA) was held recently at the conference hall of the Golaghat HGM Nursing Home under the aegis of the Golaghat zila committee.

The meeting was inaugurated by Gangadhar Dutta, adviser GDC, and was presided over by Dr Soneswar Kalita, president of KJSA central committee. The meeting was addressed by Dr Rajen Kalita, H Bhuyan, Dr Jaganath Patgiri, Arabinda Kalita, Bipin Bora, Azit Saikia, among others.

Several resolutions were adopted in the meeting, including demand for ST status to the Kalita community, land rights, political protection, among others.

It is worth mentioning that the total population of the Kalitas is 70 lakhs now. The meeting was attended by around 300 representatives from different district committees of the State.

Earlier, the objective of the meeting was explained by Dr J Patgiri and welcome address was delivered by Dr MP Bordoloi, KJSA adviser. The vote of thanks was offered by Chandan Hazarika, president of the KJSA district committee.
