Kahilipara residents rue drinking water crisis

GUWAHATI, Oct 3 - The Guwahati Jal Board (GJB) today organised a public awareness meeting at Krishna Kanta Handique Nagar, Kahilipara regarding the new state-of-the-art drinking water supply projects being implemented in the city.

During the meeting, people of the locality said that they are facing acute crisis of potable drinking water, said a statement.

GJB water supply project officials briefed the public that the drinking water problem of the city would soon be solved and that the State government has started a water supply project by which people of Guwahati would be provided 24 hours potable piped water supply services at their doorstep with adequate pressure.

After completion of these new projects, being implemented by the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority, water supply services along with operation and maintenance for the whole city will be managed by GJB.

The project officials informed that Kahilipara area comes under south central Guwahati water supply project and the pipe laying work would soon be completed in the entire Kahilipara area.
