KAAC observes 63rd foundation day

By Correspondent

DIPHU, June 26 The 63rd foundation day of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) was celebrated here recently.

Significantly, no public representatives were present in the open session organised at the Joysing Doloi Auditorium complex during the celebration of the foundation day.

In the absence of chief guest Biren Sing Engti, MP of the autonomous district, and all the four MLAs, the celebration was somewhat a dull affair.

Moreover, due to the inclement weather, public participation in programmes like cleanliness drives and tree plantation was also thin.

The statues of Khorsing Terang and Samson Sing Ingti, co-founders of the Karbi Anglong autonomous district, were garlanded by Chief Executive Member of KAAC Tuliram Ronghang and other dignitaries, while the National Tricolour was hoisted at the session hall by the KAAC chairman, Dhansing Kro.

After an award presentation ceremony, various EMs of the KAAC and the chairman of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council spoke from the podium.

In his address, the CEM of the KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang highlighted the Central Government-sponsored developmental schemes executed by the government departments controlled by the KAAC.

The CEM, while claiming that significant economic development has been achieved by the Congress-led autonomous council in recent years, stated that the uplift of the rural tribals in the district in all spheres has been possible due to the smooth execution of the schemes by the departments controlled by the KAAC.
