Jyndiang sworn in by Meghalaya Speaker

By Correspondent

SHILLONG, Dec 3 - Hill State Peoples Democratic Party (HSPDP) MLA from Nongstoin Diosstarness Jyndiang was sworn in as a legislator by Assembly Speaker Abu Taher Mondal here today.

Mondal administered the oath of office to Jyndiang at the Assembly complex in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister RC Laloo, Home Minister Roshan Warjri, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Zenith Sangma, PWD Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar and others.

Jyndiang won the November 21 by-poll by defeating his nearest Congress rival, by 2,764 votes.

The new legislator was a close confidante of senior HSPDP leader, Hopingstone Lyngdoh, who passed away on September 26 this year, thus leaving the seat vacant.

Jyndiang has stated that he would try further some of the wishes of Lyngdoh, who fought for a permanent settlement of the inter-State boundary dispute with Assam and also campaigned for a separate Khasi-Jaintia Hills State.
