IMPHAL, Oct 1 � Justice has been sought in the death of young housewife Irengbam Ningol Rosni Devi who was found hanging under suspicious circumstances on September 27.

The 18-year-old housewife was reportedly found hanging inside her room. Her husband Pukhrambam Chandrakumar, 22, resident of Nambol Sabal Leikai in Bishnupur district had claimed she took the extreme step.

On Monday, a joint action committee (JAC) of Irengbam village in Bishnupur was constituted in connection with the death of Rosni. The JAC claimed her death was not natural.

JAC convenor Ch Joykumar alleged Rosni was mistreated by her husband, who is an alcoholic. She was also subjected to frequent physical and mental torture. Her husband and mother-in-law are now in police custody.
