JORHAT, March 2 - A partially decomposed carcass of a female juvenile elephant was found inside the Nambor Doigrung Wildlife Sanctuary in Golaghat district today.

The carcass was found in an area under Murphuloni Beat of the sanctuary.

A Forest Department official said that the trunk of the animal was missing with forest officials suspecting that the body part of the jumbo has been cut off by anti-socials.

Post mortem of the carcass was done at the site by a Veterinary Department doctor and his team and the carcass buried thereafter.

The exact reason of the death is yet to be known as the post mortem report is to be submitted to the Forest Department, the official said.
