Jugasankha Award to Usharanjan Bhattacharjee

GUWAHATI, March 17 � Usharanjan Bhattacharjee, the renowned Rabindra scholar and a writer of repute, will receive this year�s Jugasankha Award. Valued at Rs 1 lakh, this annual award will be conferred by Meghalaya Governor, Ranjit Sekhar Mooshahary in a function to be held in connection with the 105th birth anniversary of Barta Bhagirath Baidyanath Nath, the founder editor of Dainik Jugasankha. This was stated in a press release. In this connection, Editor-in-Chief of Dainik Jugasankha, Bijoy Krishna Nath, stated that the award has been instituted to give inspiration to the Bengali literature of Assam. He hoped that the award will go a long way in ushering in a new horizon for the development of Bengali language and culture in the North East.
