Journalist body meet from today

GUWAHATI, March 24 - The 12th triennial session of the Journalists� Association of Assam (JAA) and the northeastern journalists� meet will be held at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra on March 25 and 26.

The session, to be presided over by JAA president DN Chakravartty, will be addressed by Rasbehari, president of the National Union of Journalists of India (NUJI), Pragyananda Choudhury, member, Press Council of India, Rattan Dixit, secretary general, NUJI and Rajat Kumar Gupta, editor, Rashtriya Khabar.

Kanaksen Deka and Prasanta Rajguru will also address the conference as special guests.

Dr Govinda Prasad Sarma will be presented the Jatindranath Bargohain Memorial Award for literary criticism, while Pradip Baruah, editor of Prantik and Anil Baruah, former editor of Dainik Asam, will be felicitated for their distinguished services in the field of journalism.

JAA general secretary Bhupen Goswami has requested all journalists and literary persons to attend the function.
