Jorhat Tennis Club enters 100th year

JORHAT, Sept 7 � The Jorhat Tennis Club, established in 1910 on the bank of the historic Rajmao Pukhuri, will start its centenary year celebrations from November 1 and will continue till the end of December.

During its centenary year, the club has decided to carry out some developmental and promotional activities. It aims to convert the existing four clay courts into synthetic tennis courts and also to install synthetic surface on the additional covered court. It also plans to conduct a number of national and international ranking tournaments.

The construction of the five synthetic tennis courts is expected to start by February next year. In October 2011, the club is planning to conduct the ITF Futures Tournament, the World Ranking Tournament of the International Tennis Federation with a prize money of USD 10,000 at its premises.

In the coaching department, the club plans to bring coaches of national and international repute.
