Jonai campus of TU to come up soon

TEZPUR, July 2 � The proposed Jonai campus of Tezpur University will to come up very soon. This was stated by the State Health and Education Minister Himanata Biswa Sarma here at the Tezpur University recently. Sarma had a discussion with the VC, Tezpur University, Prof Dr Mihir Kanti Chowdhury, at his office in presence of the Registrar, Alak Buragohain, Controller of Examinations, Dr Bhubaneswar Saharia, Prof Dr Sunil Kr Dutta, Jonai MLA, Pradan Barua, local MLA Rajen Barthakur and MLA, Behali constituency Pallab Lochan Das.

It is to be stated here that the people of Jonai alongwith the MLA of the constituency had been demanding a campus of Tezpur University for the last couple of years but due to land-related problems this could not materialise. At the same time, people of the LAC guided by the local MLA approached the State Government for the allotment of the required plot of land for the proposed campus of TU. Finally the required plot of the land was allotted by the Government after a long official process.

Meanwhile, in the discussion regarding the matter the Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that all sort of official processes have been completed and the proposed campus of the Tezpur University would come up very soon fulfilling the long-cherished dream of the people of Jonai and the adjoining areas.

Prior to it, the minister visited the flood-affected areas of the district and took stock of the overall flood situation.
