By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 31 Nigerian striker John Ozoeneme Nwoke almost single handedly gave Ganga Sports Club a 3-0 victory against Navajyoti Club in the RG Baruah Super Division Football League today.

In an ideal playing condition the stocky striker netted all the gaols to record a hattrick at the Nehru Stadium here. It was Ganga SCs third consecutive victory and with todays win they virtually confirmed their berth in the champions group of the table with Green Valley, ASEB and NF Railway gathering nine points from six outings.

Ganga SC, which gradually improving after facing defeat in the first three matches, played a tactically superior game and kept the opponent under pressure through out the course.

Navajyoti strikers, substitute Michael Lalhruaitluanga, Amir Biswas and Emmaneul Nnamani worked hard in the Ganga goal area but they failed to create gap at the final stage. Ganga defenders, Joseph Idoni in particular, were too good to the Navajyoti strikers. Ganga goalkeeper Munshi Saifuddin showed his class under the bar. Due to his perfect anticipation a couple of Navajyoti attacks were foiled.

On the other hand Navajyoti goalkeeper Subhajit Barman was in poor shape today and due to his mistakes they have to concede first two goals. John beat him in one on one situations. John received a through from John T Jamang and beat Subhajit who unnecessarily left the goal in the ninth minute.

After five minutes Subhajit made the same mistake and John beat him anticipating a pass from Rafael Lalchhanchuaha.

The third goal of John was an eye catching one. The skilful Nigerian dodged past two Navajyoti defenders and kept his cool to beat the goalkeeper and push the ball into the net.

Ganga boys are in nice form at present and may upset the table leaders in the next phase.

Todays match: NFR vs Green Valley.
