JNV Darrang sets record in online registration of applications

MANGALDAI, Dec 8 - In an interactive session with the students of JNV Darrang on Wednesday, Ghanshyam Dass, Deputy Commissioner of the district, advised the students to persevere for a bright future by dint of sustained hard work in a scientific manner.

The Deputy Commissioner, who is also the chairman of the Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC), urged the students to be more involved in studies so that they can expand their knowledge base. He reminded the students that success never comes from comfort zones.

�Only hard work and perseverance can help a person to reach his/her goal. Strive for progress, not for perfection,� he asserted.

The interactive session was also attended by Amrit Bhuyan, Superintendent of Police, Darrang. He emphasised on the fact that discipline was the key to success. �Discipline turns ability into achievement,� the Superintendent of Police justified.

Several officials from their respective departments, including Joint Director of Health Services Dr Ruplal Nunisa, District Information and Public Relations Officer Manimala Gogoi, Bijay Saikia, Executive Engineer of PWD (Roads) Mangaldai Division, Pawan Baruah, Assistant Executive Engineer of PHE, Mangaldai, Dr Ramesh Chandra Goswami, SDM&HO, besides local PRI members attended the Vidyalaya Management Committee meeting.

Different issues related to improving the academic atmosphere and infrastructure development of the Government of India-run lone residential institution were discussed. An amount of Rs 3 lakh was stated to have been sanctioned for Tengabari village under the 14th Finance Commission for solving the long- pending water-related problem of the students.

It may be mentioned here that high iron content in the water is a major problem in this Vidyalaya. In the meeting, the necessity of internal road carpeting was also discussed. Regarding installing of solar heater panels, the Deputy Commissioner assured the Principal of all possible assistance.

�JNV, Darrang has turned out to be an asset for the poor and needy students of the region and we are here to offer them all possible help,� the Deputy Commissioner maintained.

Principal P Rajesh apprised the house about the achievements and different activities in the Vidyalaya through the annual report and a power point presentation. He emphasised on the improvement of scholastic excellence in the CBSE Board examination during the last two years.

It is a matter of pride that CBSE has selected Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya as �The Hub of Learning� and Principal P Rajesh as the Co-ordinator to facilitate equality in the quality of education in the entire CBSE affiliated Vidyalayas of the district.

The vidyalaya managing committee congratulated the Principal and all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution for setting a new record in JNVST-2020 in Shillong region with the highest online registration of 4,253, an increase of more than 700 applicants compared to the figure of last year in spite of lack of adequate support from the relevant State Government department.

The members expressed happiness and satisfaction at the CBSE Class-X and Class-XII results of 2019. They hoped that the Vidyalaya will soon be the best in the entire Shillong region under the dynamic leadership of Principal P Rajesh.

The members present on the occasion congratulated P Rajesh for being conferred the prestigious National Award for Teachers by the President of India Ramnath Kovind on the occasion of Teacher�s Day celebration.
