MANGALDAI, Aug 3 - Dibrugarh cluster emerged overall champions in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Regional Basketball Tournament (boys and girls) under the Shillong region which ended today at the JNV, Udmari, Darrang campus.

Golaghat cluster had to be content with the runners-up spot in the three-day championship.

In the finals played today, Dibrugarh emerged victorious in the boys U-17, girls U-17 and U-19 categories. In the U-17 boys section, Dibrugarh got the better of Barpeta by a narrow margin of 12-10. On the other hand, in the U-17 and U-19 girls categories, Dibrugarh beat Lakhimpur (10-8) and Golaghat (14-4) respectively. In both the finals of U-14 boys and girls category, Golaghat cluster went down against Thoubal (Manipur) cluster 14-8 and 36-10 respectively. In the one sided final of the U-19 boys, Lakhimpur outclassed Kohima by 26-12.

In the closing function, Principal, JNV, Darrang P Rajesh among other guests gave away the prizes.
