GUWAHATI, Jan 25 - Dr Nitin Baruah, Head of Dept of Microbiology, Jorhat Medical College, died at the GMCH on January 22 following a brief ailment. He was 59.
Dr Baruah, who had a uniformly brilliant career, did super-specialisation and was known as one of the most authoritative persons in the field of microbiology throughout the country. He was closely associated with the Indian Medical Council and was the Inspector of Colleges in his discipline. He was an office-bearer of the New Guwahati Puja Samiti.
He leaves behind his mother, wife, a son and a daughter, besides a host of relatives.
The Guwahati Senior Citizens� Association and several organisations have condoled his death.
