J&K, Maharashtra bag roll ball titles

GUWAHATI, July 21 - Assam teams had to be content with the silver medals in the 2nd Federation Cup Roll Ball Championship.

In the finals played at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here today, the Assam women�s team went down against Jammu and Kashmir 1-2 while their male counterparts faced a 10-1 drubbing by Maharashtra .

Manisha Pradhan of Assam and Saurav Bhalerao of Maharashtra were adjudged best players in the women and men sections respectively.

The three-day championship was organised by the Assam Roll Ball Association (ARBA).

In the closing function, Assam Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami was present as the chief guest. Principal Secretary, Home, LS Changsan; vice chairman, Amtron, Ritubaran Sharma; Retired IAS officer Rohini Baruah; Roll Ball Federation of India president Veenit Kuber, vice president Monoj Jadav; ARBA president Miftauddin Ahmed, among others were present in the closing function and gave away the prizes.
