MANGALDAI, April 8 On the first day of the second semi- final of the JK Barua U-19 Inter District Cricket Tournament between Silchar and Karimganj, both teams are evenly poised here today. In the rain interrupted match at the Mangaldai Stadium, electing to bat first, the Karimganj batsmen failed to apply themselves against a good bowling attack of the opponent. Among the Silchar bowlers, left-arm spinner Rahul Singh (5/15) was almost unplayable for the Karimganj batsmen while right-arm medium pacers Monosit Das (2/10) and Dibakar Sahari (2/10) both were equally dominant.

Nekibur Rahman ( 40 n.o) was the only batsman for Karimganj who scored freely and helped his team reach 97 runs all out in 30.5 overs.

In reply, when stumps were drawn today, Silchar were 15 runs short of Karimganjs first innings total with three wickets in hand. Monosit Das (21 n.o) was at the crease with Rahul Singh (7 n.o) giving him company. Abhishek Thakuri (17) and Krishanu Dutta (13) also made valuable contribution to teams first innings total. Bhagabat Paul (3/29) and Nabarun Das (2/15) were the successful bowlers for Karimganj.
