Jignesh clinches SBI TT title

GUWAHATI, Oct 12 - Jignesh R Jaishwal clinched the singles title in the All India State Bank of India (SBI) Inter Circle Table Tennis Championship which concluded at the NF Railway Indoor Stadium, Maligaon today.

In the singles final Jignesh of Ahmedabad Circle defeated Md Ibrahim Khan of Hyderabad Circle 4-1.

Earlier, in the semifinals Jignesh defeated Kaustav Banerjee of Kolkata 4-2 while Ibrahim got the better of Promod Soni of Bhopal Circle 4-0.

In the team event Kolkata Circle emerged champions defeating Hyderabad Circle 3-0. In the semifinals Kolkata downed Bangalore 3-1 while Hyderabad edged past Ahmedabad 3-2.

In the closing function Pannalal Das, General Manager, NW-II, SBI NE circle was the chief guest, while Kaushik Sinha, Dy GM and Jagadish Dutta, secretary, Circle Welfare Committee, were also present on the occasion.

Altogether 14 teams-Kolkata, Chennai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kerala, Patna, Bangalore, Delhi, Lucknow and NE Circle took part in the meet.
