JFA flays killing of French scribes

GUWAHATI, Jan 10 � The�Journalists� Forum Assam (JFA) has strongly condemned the brutal attack on the office of Charlie Hebdo, the Paris-based French satirical magazine, on Wednesday last, in which 12 people, including journalists, were killed.

The JFA, in a statement, asserted that the attacks on Charlie Hebdo can be termed as an assault on the universal rights of free expression. It also pointed out that journalists become the targets of fanatics around the world and no place remains safe for the media persons.

It may be mentioned that masked terrorists on Wednesday appeared in the office of Charlie Hebdo and fired indiscriminately on the employees of the magazine. The dead included cartoonists St�phane Charbonnier, Jean Cabut, Georges Wolinski, Bernard Verlhac and reporter Bernard Maris.
