By Correspondent

IMPHAL, July 29 - The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has called a 24-hour public curfew from Friday midnight in protest against police action preventing holding of a public meeting at Singjamei here on Friday.

The Convenor-in-charge of JCILPS BK Moirangcha made the announcement at a press conference here today.

The JCILPS had plans to hold a public meeting to discuss the ongoing ILP stir in the State in association with another Joint Action Committee at Singjamei here on Friday. But the police stopped them from doing so as part of enforcing prohibitory orders in Imphal East district, sources said.
