Jaysingh Hanche award to Dilip Sarma

GUWAHATI, Oct 23 � Linguist Dilip Sarma has been chosen for the Jaysingh Hanche award by the Asam Sahitya Sabha for his significant contribution towards the Karbi language, literature and culture.

The award had been instituted by late Shamsingh Hanche and his family members through a trust. The Sabha has been entrusted with the work to select a recipient, who has contributed in the development of the Karbi language literature and culture.

Dilip Sarma a resident of Beltola in Guwahati has penned Asomar Janajatiya Sabdamala, Pragatir Pathat Karbi Anglong, Bare Rahaniya Karbi Anglong, Tulanamulak Asomar Janajatiya Shabdakosh and a novel Niyatir Parihas, a press statement mentioned.

Meanwhile, the Asam Sahitya Sabha today kick-started the year-long birth centenary celebration of Pandit Tirthanath Sarma at the Sangitacharya Lakhiram Baruah Sadan, Guwahati in association with Pandit Tirthanath Sarma Birth Centenary Celebration Committee.

Kamaleswar Bora, former Vice Chancellor of the Dibrugarh University inaugurated today�s programme that was presided over by the Sabha president Rong Bong Terang.
