GUWAHATI, Sept 8 - The Viswa Hindu Parishad Guwahati Mahanagar Samity will celebrate Janmastami on September 12 and 13 on the Ulubari Higher Secondary School playground here. The celebration time will coincide with the birth of the VHP in Mumbai in 1964 during Janmastami in the month of Bhadra, said a press release.
On the occasion processions to be taken out by the VHP�s 18 prakhandas of greater Guwahati will converge on the said venue.
Highlights of the two-day celebrations will be competitions on Geeta sloka recitation, art, quiz, fancy dress, Nandotsav, essay competition and group naam competition among women.
On September 12 a colourful cultural programme will be held, while on September 13 noted VHP leaders and guests will be taking part in a religious discourse. The second day�s programme will also include release of the souvenir Janmastami and distribution of awards to the winners of various competitions.
