GUWAHATI, Dec 31 � Thousands of cell phone users in and around Guwahati had a tough time today with jammed networks creating hurdles in communication. The timing could not have been worse, as many of the customers were to wish close ones on the eve of the New Year.
The problem started in the afternoon, when calls made to some networks could not be completed. In other cases, the connections were made, but no voice could be heard from one end.
Among the worst hit consumers were journalists and business people greatly dependent on cell phones, who felt let down by the abrupt loss of communication. The flaw in the network continued till late evening.
