Jagadish quits AGP primary membership

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 16 Senior Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader and former general secretary of the party, Jagadish Bhuyan today resigned from the primary membership of the regional party.

In a letter to the partys president, Bhuyan expressed his dissatisfaction about the state of affairs in the party and accused the leadership of failure to undertake self-introspection while appealing to adopt the correct path.

He especially expressed disappointment with the events of past two days, when party president and former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta first expressed his desire to relinquish party leadership, but was convinced by the general body to stay back and instead hand over charge temporarily to working president Atul Bora on account of health problems.

Bhuyan had been staying away from party affairs for some time and there had been speculations that he might join the BJP.
