TURA, June 30 � Tura, in collaboration with the Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship (MIE) and the College of Home Science � Central Agriculture University (CAU), is set to host a jackfruit mela on July 3 at the Police Parade Ground here.
Different varieties of the fruit will be on display during the festival with participants also from 17 blocks of the Garo Hills region. The mela will also exhibit value-added jackfruit products. North Tura MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Noverfield Marak will inaugurate the event.
Besides, the mela will also include competitions on heaviest jackfruit, jackfruit eating, jackfruit cooking, best stall and best jackfruit variety.
