JACAS observes foundation day

DIPHU, Aug 7 - The Joint Committee on Autonomous State (JACAS) observed its 5th foundation day at the Farmers Growth Centre here recently.

The proceedings started with hoisting of the insigne followed by different programmes. The open session held at 1 pm was chaired by JACAS chairman Khorsing Teron.

Besides the National Federation for New States president Shrihari Aney, NFNS spokesperson Swapnajit Saniyal, ABSU president and NFNS joint secretary Promod Bodo, NDFB (P) general secretary Gobindra Basumatary, VIIRA vice president Anil Kumar Jawade, KLNLF vice chairman Habe Tokbi, KSDC leader Prof. T Gangte and PJACBM chief convenor Rakesh Bodo attended the programme.

In his speech, Promod Boro of ABSU and joint secretary of NFNS assured that the Bodo people will extend support to the Karbi cause at all times.

Sharing his experience of leading mass agitations, Boro urged the people of the district to remain united despite all provocations in order to achieve anything worthwhile.

Addressing the open session, Boro said that the Bodos have learnt several bitter lessons from their long history of struggle. He reiterated that unity is the basic strength of any particular community.

While speaking on the rights and movement for Statehood, NFNS national president Shrihari Aney said, �as we are demanding a separate State, it is necessary for us to remain united at all times and work for the common cause.�
