JAA seminar, workshop on Feb 16,17

GUWAHATI, Feb 9 � The Journalists� Association of Assam (JAA) is organising a national seminar and a journalists� workshop at the Sankaradeva Kalakshetra on February 16 and 17.

The seminar will be inaugurated at 10:30am by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. It will be addressed by Makhanlal Chaturvedi of the National University of Journalism and Mass Communication. Dr Nanda Kishore Trikha, Editor, Hindustan Samachar, Dr Rajendra Prabhu, Member, Press Council of India; Ananda Bazar Patrika�s Economic Editor Pragyananda Choudhury, National Union of Journalists of India (NUJI) chairman Upara Laxman, and NUJI general secretary Prasanna Mahanti will address it as resource persons.

The subject of the workshop will be �Freedom and Responsibility of Journalists and their Social Security.�The workshop to be held on February 17 will be addressed by several leading journalists of Assam.

The subject of the seminar is �Parliamentary and Assembly Reporting, Crime Reporting and Reporting on Political and Economic Matters, Environmental News and News on Terrorism.�

The association will present the Jatindra Kumar Bargohain Memorial Award on Literary Criticism to eminent critic and writer Prof Nalinidhar Bhattacharya while Jadu Kakati, former president of JAA, will be felicitated for his contribution to journalism in Assam.
