ITA plan to promote tea among children

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, July 8 - The tea industry of the country is planning a nationwide campaign to promote tea among children, said Indian Tea Association (ITA) chairman Azam Monem. He was addressing newsmen here last evening.

The ITA chairman said that a study on the domestic consumption of tea conducted by the industry recently showed that children are not drinking tea despite a lot of health benefits. The tea industry is planning to compete with beverages like Bournvita to overcome the predicament of slow growth in domestic consumption of tea it is facing at present.

For the purpose, it has drawn a plan to popularise tea drinking among children.

However, this is still at the planning stage. Finally, the Tea Board of the country would be asked to conduct a campaign for popularising tea drinking among children, he said.
