GUWAHATI, March 30 � Institute of Science and Technology (IST) � Gauhati University emerged champions in the third NEFTi T-20 Cricket Tournament. In the final played today at the NITS Mirza, IST-Gauhati University defeated defending champions Assam Engineering College (AEC). It was a repeat of last year�s final.

Electing to bat first AEC managed to score 113 losing all the wickets. In reply IST-Gauhati University reached the target losing 6 wickets in 15 over. Arindam Paul of the winning team was declared man of the final while his team mate Kushal Ray received that man of the tournament award. Earlier in the semifinals, AEC defeated Royal College of Engineering and IST � Gauhati University defeated Tezpur University to reach final. Ten AICTE approved institutions namely � NITS Mirza, GIMT, Donbosco College of Engineering, Regional Institute of Science and Technology (RIST), Assam Down Town University, Assam Engineering College, Royal College of Engineering and Scholars Institute of Technology and Management, Tezpur University and IST-Gauhati participated in the tournament. Devajit Bhuyan, General Secretary, NEFTi, Bipul Bhuyan and Tapan Chakrabarty � representatives of Assam Cricket Association (ACA) gave away the prizes.
