GUWAHATI, Oct 22 - The IIT-Guwahati has invited participation from interested schools of the northeastern States for the upcoming residential Ishan Vikas programme to be held between November 30 and December 22.
The scheme is open for students of Class IX and Class XI Science stream and selected students and accompanying teachers will be provided air travel, food and lodging during the period of the visit, said a statement.
The Ishan Vikas scheme is an initiative taken by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), while IIT-Guwahati is the coordinating institution for this programme.
The aim of the Ishan Vikas programme is to introduce schoolchildren of the northeastern States to the best institutions of higher education in India and to motivate them to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Under this scheme, students from different States of the region studying in classes IX and XI (Science) are sponsored for a two-week visit to a number of premier institutions in India, such as IITs and IISERs.
The statement said that the head of a school may send a list of 10 students, having aspiration towards science and engineering from either Class IX or Class XI (Science), and an accompanying teacher (and a lady teacher if there are girl students), on his or her official letterhead.
The names must be sent latest by October 31 to the coordinator, Ishan Vikas, IIT Guwahati, Guwahati-781039 and a soft copy of the list could be sent to [email protected]
The statement said that the list must indicate the names, dates of birth, gender, email addresses, phone or mobile numbers, class of all the students participating and of the accompanying teachers.
