IMPHAL, May 18 � A personnel of 7th Indian Reserve Battalion(IRB) deployed at the residence of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee vice president Sagolsem Achouba Singh was injured in a bomb explosion this morning, reports said. The residence of the Congress leader was located at Wangoi Makha Thounaojam Leikai about 25 km from here.
The blast took place when the IRB personnel L Herojit tried to push a plastic bag containing the bomb believed to be an improvised explosive device to a nullah with a bamboo stick around 5.40 am today.
The IRB man sustained injury in his right hand and was sent to RIMS hospital for treatment. Later, he was shifted to Shija hospitals here, sources added.
This is the second such explosion that took place at the residence of the Congress leader, who also holds the post of vice chairman of Manipur Khadi and Villages Industries Board. The Congress leader and his family were not at their Wangoi residence when the incident took place. Only security guards and few house maids were at the residence.
