IPFT creating trouble in Tripura: CPM

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, June 18 - The CPI (M) on Sunday alleged the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) has been trying to create trouble at the behest of the Prime Ministers Office (PMO).

Calling railway and national highway blockade for indefinite period demanding Twipraland is a serious issue and the IPFT has got backing from the PMO itself, said party secretary Bijan Dhar.

NC Debbarma who was suspended from the party for taking bribe from the BJP in the run up to the Simna-Tamakari by-election, has been dancing in the BJPs tune to create unrest in the State, he said while addressing a press conference here.

He said even as the BJP state unit president Biplab Deb has opposed backing Twipraland demand of IPFT, there might be BJPs understanding with NC Debbarma for political gain.

Noting that Tripuras identity will be jeopardised if Twipraland demand is achieved, Dhar sharply criticized Deb for turning gun at the CPI (M) led Left Front government.

Biplab Deb doesnt know the States political history- separate statehood demand was raised two years after CPI (M) coming to power (1978). Now, the IPFT, a mask of outlawed NLFT has been demanding Twipraland, he pointed out.
