Introduction of new train services hailed

By Correspondent

KALIABOR, Sept 20 The recent introduction of a few new train services, namely Silghat-Dhubri (Rajya Rani Express, Tri-weekly) and Silghat-Chaparmukh daily passenger service has been hailed by a large section of the public of Nagaon, Kaliabor, Goalpara, Dhubri, Kamrup and other places.

However it is a matter of great concern that the NF Railway has not yet taken any steps for the proper development of the platform with all amenities for passengers along with the line from Silghat to Nagaon.

The aforementioned two new train services will connect almost all the junctions in the route through which the public will be much benefitted.

Due to hike of bus fare etc, now-a-days the common people always prefer railway journeys instead of bus journey. The common people have been suffering heavily in regard to travelling to various destinations due to dearth of train services.

Further, in this connection it may be mentioned that the 81st annual conference of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, the biggest religio-cultural organisation of North East India will be held at Kaliabor, 6 km away from Silghat and Jakhalabandha railway stutions. It will be held in the first week of February 2012, where approximately 18 to 20 lakh people will attend this conference from various parts of Assam, ie Dhubri to Sadiya, besides Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Meghalaya etc. If these two train services are introduced early, the common people and the religious delegates during the ensuing conference will be highly benefitted.

In view of this, the conscious public here have urged the North East Frontier Railway authority to expedite the matter and come forward for early introduction of Silghat-Dhubri (Tri Weekly) Silghat-Chaparmukh daily passenger for public benefit.
