Int�l rural film fest from today

JORHAT, Dec 22 - The Assam Film Society in collaboration with Federation of Film Societies of India is organising the four-day first Assam International Rural Film Festival at Phesuwal village on the Meleng outskirts here from tomorrow.

A member of the organising committee said that altogether 26 films will be screened during the festival, which has been dedicated in memory of Biju Phukan who passed away recently.

The member said that several acclaimed films from India and abroad will be among the movies that will be screened during the festival, which will be held in two makeshift auditoriums constructed across 100 bighas of land near a tea estate.

National award winning films like Chameli Memsaab, Xagoroloi Bahu Dur, Agnisnan etc., will be screened.

A workshop on acting and an international workshop on art of film criticism along with several cultural functions will also be held.
