Int�l exposure for Bihu, Bhortaal dances

GUWAHATI, July 6 � Assam�s Bihu and Bhortaal Nritya will get international exposure at the coveted Giffoni Film Festival, Italy, with the students of the NPS International School, Guwahati, set to perform there on July 17.

Preparation is on at the school auditorium under the guidance of the teachers of the music department of the school to enthral the audience at the global platform.

Apart from Bihu and Bhortaal Nritya, a group of four students of the school � Md Nasad (Class VIII), Hrishiraj Sawant (Class IX), Krishna Saha (Class VIII), and Disha Boro (Class VIII) will also perform Indian classical dances during the inauguration ceremony of the film festival.

Expressing satisfaction over the preparation for the global meet, JN Das, director, NPS International School, Guwahati, said, �We are very happy that two very important dance forms representing Assamese culture will be performed at the inauguration of such a prestigious event.�

A documentary titled We are Same Same, But Different directed by students of the school has also been selected for a special screening at the film festival. The event will continue till July 18.

�We always try to showcase Assam and for that matter the entire North-east in the international arena. On several occasions our students have been able to make Assam proud at international level,� Das said.

Earlier, a documentary titled Assam Bamboo Crafts by the school had bagged the Best Documentary Film and Best Cinematography awards in the School Students section at the 5th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2015. NPS is the only school in the North-east to have won this prestigious award.
