IMPHAL, Dec 30 - Chairman of Committee on Petitions (Lok Sabha) Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Tuesday said that every gram panchayat in the country will be connected with internet by the end of 2019.

Speaking to media persons at the office of BJP Manipur Pradesh here this afternoon, Koshyari said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to upgrade India to a developed country from the list of developing countries. Digital connectivity in all parts of the country is very important to transform India into a developed country, he added.

He further said besides digitalisation all over the country, e-learning has also been started in the country with a vision of paperless works in every government department. This is a brain child of the Prime Minister, he added.

The country has more than two lakh Panchayats that will be connected by internet under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. Koshyari launched the scheme at Hotel Imphal on Monday.
