Internet facility for PANE members

GUWAHATI, Aug 28 - Physics Academy of the North East (PANE) has set up, for its life members, an internet-cum-computing facility at its head office situated in the Department of Physics at Gauhati University.

A large number of national and international journals can be downloaded by the life-members of PANE at zero cost through this facility. Additionally, this facility will provide some computing software, which will be beneficial for research work of the life-members.

The facility was inaugurated by the Rector of Gauhati University on August 24.

�We are thankful to the Vice-Chancellor and Head of the Department of Physics of Gauhati University for helping us to make this facility available to the life-members,�� Prof. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, general secretary of PANE, said.

PANE currently has over 250 life-members, spread across the entire North-east and other parts of the country. Faculty members of various colleges and institutions in this region do not have access to various international journals like Physical Review and also do not have facility of high bandwidth internet connectivity. All these faculty members along with the research scholars of various institutions will now enjoy the benefit of the facility provided by PANE.
