International short film fest concludes

GUWAHATI, May 9 � The three-day Second Guwahati International Short Film Festival (GISFF)-2012 concluded today at the District Library auditorium with Bollywood director Onir as the guest of honour.

The festival screened some exclusive short films from across the world, and the special of the lot was the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII)�s golden jubilee package.

The awards for the competition were given away by Onir and other jury panellist present on the occasion. The jury panel was headed by Gautam Bora and supported by Sanjiv Hazarika, filmmaker, Cyrus F Dastur, theatre personality and founder of popular short film club Shamiana, Manoj Barpujari, national award winning film critic, and Onir, director and winner of 2012 national award-winning film I am.

The winners of 2nd GISFF, 2012 are: �Northeast Shorts� were as following. The Golden Rhinos for best film & best director along with special gifts from Iosis Spa & Salon went to Painful Bliss (best film), and Deepjyoti Handique was awarded the best director award.

The Silver Rhinos for best editing & best screenplay along with special gifts from Iosis Spa & Salon went to Nipan Talukdar and Rakesh Gogoi for The Line Between You & Me Is Blink, while Bhaskar Dutta bagged the best screenplay award for Painful Bliss.

The Bronze Rhinos for best cinematography along with special gifts from Iosis Spa & Salon went to Nagen Baishya for Anutapta from Regional Government Film & Television Institute, Guwahati.

While for the noncompetitive sections, the Spirit Audience Award (voted by the audience) went to Ek Tha Main by Paras Chakrabarti.

The national award-winning best Hindi feature film I am was also screened during the festival.
