By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 15 - The Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Society is hosting an international symposium on painting in association with the Olympia Fine Arts Association of Finland in December this year. This was announced by the Society today.

Around 45 countries will be invited to participate in this ambitious programme, that is expected to open up new platforms for sharing, exchanging and showcasing skill and creativity of the artist fraternity.

The Society is also organising an international seminar on the Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardeva next month.

On the other hand, a camp for artists began today on the Kalakshetra premises. This camp, being organised by Lalit Kala Akademi, regional centre Lucknow in collaboration with Kalakshetra, will conclude on September 21. About ten artists from different parts of the country are taking part in the camp, that is going to provide an opportunity to the art lovers to see the artists at work.

We also have artists from the north-eastern states in this camp. Such camps facilitate interaction between the artists and the public, said an official of Kalakshetra, adding that the works of the artists completed during the camp will be up for public display on September 21.

It needs mention here that the Kalakshetra has been regularly organising such camps so as to give the artists and art lovers the opportunity to share and exchange their views. Many art lovers here have had the experience of watching an artist at work.
