International Nurses Day observed in Manipur

IMPHAL, May 12 - Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today disclosed that the State Government is activelly considering to set up a Nursing College at JNIMS. It is also the desire of the government to develop JNIMS into a Centre of Excellence, he said.

He was addressing the celebration of International Nurses Day at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) organised by Trained Nurses� Association of India (TNAI) Manipur Branch and Nurses� Association, TNAI JNIMS unit under the theme �Nurses: A force for change: Improving health systems� resilience�.

Ibobi said that there is a great demand for trained nurses in South East Asian countries and the Japanese Embassy had even asked to provide 15,000 trained nurses from the State to work in Japan. He assured of looking into the matter of re-introducing uniform allowance and risk allowance to the nurses. Presiding over the function, Health & Family Welfare Minister DK Korungthang appreciated the role being played by the nurses in the health care delivery system.
