HAILAKANDI, Feb 27 - International Mother Language Day was observed throughout Hailakandi district recently.
The main programme was organised by the Hailakandi committee of Barak Upatyaka Banga Sahitya O Samskriti Sanmilan. The programme started with the paying of floral tributes to the language martyrs at Bhasa Sahid Smaraksthal. The meeting held on the occasion was addressed by the president of the sanmilan, Nitish Bhattacharjee, district president Dr Paritosh Chandra Dutta, Bijoy Kumar Dhar, Dr Yagneswar Deb, Hirakjyoti Chakraborty, Anindya Nath, Sudarshan Bhattacharjee among others.
All of them highlighted the history of struggles in Barak valley. Various programmes were also organised in Katlicherra on the occasion and the tributes were paid by Dipak Kanti Aich, Manik Gupta, Swapan Modak, Bachchu Paul, Manoj Deb, Pranab Deb among others.
