GUWAHATI, Jan 28 � The 22nd edition of the International Guwahati Trade Fair (IGTF) will begin from January 29 and will continue till February 15 at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre near Balaji Temple, Betkuchi here.

The fair will be inaugurated by Kalraj Mishra, Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The function will also be attended by Syed Muazzem Ali, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, Govindas Konthoujam, Minister of Industries and Commerce, Manipur and Ravindranath, CMD, NSIC.

The fair is being organised by Industries and Trade Fair Association of Assam (ITFAA) in association with National Small Industries Corporation Limited (NSIC), Government of India.

The theme for this year is �Make in India and Stride like a Lion�, and ITFAA will showcase the Make in India products in the Fair.

Rajasthan will be the focus state along with an exclusive pavilion which will showcase rich products and food items from the state. The other states which will display products in the fair are Karnataka, West Bengal, Orissa, Hyderabad and the Northeastern states.

The MSME pavilion will host more than 100 units from across the country this year exhibiting the rich heritage of India.

Entrepreneurs from China, Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Egypt will be participating in the fair.

The fair will also feature an international food festival and international chefs will dish out delicacies from Germany, Thailand, Mexico, Africa, Brazil, New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Norway, Pakistan and Mediterranean countries.

The special automobile sector at the fair will host automobile giants like Audi, Honda, Maruti, Mahindra and many others for the car and two wheeler lovers. The National Jute Board (NJB) pavilion and Coir Board pavilion will be the added attractions in the fair.

These and some other details about the fair � the oldest and arguably the biggest trade fair in the North-East � were informed at a press briefing here this afternoon by NSIC Zonal General Manager (East and North East) JK Mahanta, ITFAA president Jatin Hazarika, vice president Rajesh Das and general secretary Rajeev Das.
