International drama fest in Dibrugarh from today

DIBRUGARH, Feb 3 - Theatre lovers of the region will get an opportunity to learn even as they enjoy a series of top-rated stage plays and engage themselves in interaction with the directors, play writers, artistes, technical experts and choreographers during a seven-day multilingual international theatre festival to be held at India Club and the Theatrical Institute from February 4 to 10.

The event, referred to as Bharat Rang Mahotsav is the 20th edition of the International Theatre Festival of India. The festival is being organised by the National School of Drama, an autonomous institution under the Union Ministry of Culture in collaboration with India Club and the Theatrical Institute.

Addressing a press conference, Ashim Kumar Sharma, chief coordinator of Bharat Rang Mahotsav said that the audience would get a chance to witness altogether seven plays, including three international productions from Bangladesh, Poland and Sri Lanka.

�After a play has been staged, theatre enthusiasts and students can involve themselves in an interactive session with Bharat Sharma, a renowned choreographer and other team members of the play,� said Sharma.

The Bharat Rang Mahotsav, the International Theatre Festival of India, is organised annually by the National School of Drama. Till date, the Mahotsav has presented an overwhelming 1,787 plays across the country in several cities. The 20th edition of the festival also includes Directors� Meet, Living Legends and Master Class. NSD is also holding parallel festivals in other cities like Varanasi, Ranchi, Mysore and Rajkot, the organisers informed.
