International Day of Yoga observed across State

NAGAON, June 22 - The 2nd International day of Yoga was observed by the 8 Assam Bn NCC at the Police Reserve field on June 21. The grand gala event began at 6 am with NCC cadets of different schools and colleges in and around Nagaon practising yoga under the guidance of yoga guru Anju Bora. The CO of 8 Assam Bn NCC, Debabrata Mohapatra, DSP (HQ) Pallab Tamuli, Addl SP Hiranya Kr Barman and other officials graced the occasion.

International Yoga day was also observed at Nowgong Govt Boys HS School at the initiative of Principal Dipika Loskoa and NCC officer Saiful Islam. Teachers, employees, students and NCC cadets of the school took active part in the programme.

DERGAON: The International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Dergaon on Tuesday. The day was celebrated under the aegis of Dergaon Town Anchalik Committee of AGP at Marowary Panchayat Dharamshala here. The programme chaired by Bhola Hazarika was attended by the newly elected MLA Bhabendra Nath Bharali where a large number of students from various schools participated.

The programme was also organised by the Golaghat District Committee of Krira Bharati at Dergaon Municipality Board (DMB) office. This programme was attended by the chairperson of DMB, ward commissioner Sankar Bhatta, the president of Dergaon Chambers of Commerce Pradip Khadaria etc.

Udalguri: The second International Yoga Day was observed in various places of Udalguri district on Tuesday. The Patanjali Yoga Samiti and Bharat Swabhiman Trust of Udalguri district centrally organized the programme at Mazbat while the committees also observed it in Udalguri town, Khoirabari, Nonaikhuti, Bandarguri, army camp at Hattigorh and also at the SP office in Udalguri.

The students and teachers of Bandarguri High School, a remote school along the Indo-Bhutan border also observed the day. At Dura Puja Mandap here at Udalguri town, Pushpadhar Bastola, principal of Udalguri HS School conducted the yoga camp organised by the Udalguri district committee of Patanjali Yoga Samiti and Bharat Swabhiman Trust respectively which was anchored by Drona Chetry, president of the trust.

On the other hand, the Udalguri district administration also arranged a 45 minute long yoga camp at the DC parade ground which was attended by 250 participants. The programme was inaugurated by Sadhana Hojai, DC of Udalguri district while it was attended by all the employees of DC office, army officers of 168 Field regiment camping at Udalguri, SSB and CRPF officials which was conducted by the yoga guru of Udalguri army camp, informed Muni Sarmah, nazir of Udalguri DC office.

Haflong : The 2nd International Yoga Day organised by the district administration in association with the District Ayush Society was celebrated here at Haflong with great enthusiasm at the indoor stadium of NL Daolagupu sports complex on Tuesday.

The International Yoga Day was also observed by various NGOs and organisations such as Ayush Society, Art of Living in different parts of the district such as Maibang, Umrangso, Harangajao etc.

At Haflong town, yoga programme was organised at Cultural Institution Hall, Jaganath Bari temple near Haflong lake.

Amarendra Baruah, Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao participated in the programme at NL Daulagupu Indoor Stadium where he welcomed all the participants.

Acharya Chinmoy Brahmachari of Ananda Ashram along with his disciples from Ayush Society demonstrated the postures of yogasnas and remedy for various ailments and their precautionary measures. Acharya Chinmoy was assisted by Babita Laobangdisa while performing yoga.

DIPHU: The 2nd International Yoga Day was observed centrally at Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA), Diphu here on Tuesday. The Day organised by the Karbi Anglong administration was attended by Sum Ronghang, MLA of Diphu constituency and former Diphu MLA, Bidya Sing Elngleng.

Besides, Mukul Chandra Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner, Debajit Deury, Superintendent of Police, East Karbi Anglong, senior officials of KAAC and students from different educational institutions of schools and colleges participated. According to reports, the International Yoga Day was also celebrated in the subdivisions of east and west Karbi Anglong hill districts.

Biswanath Chariali: The 2nd International Yoga Day was observed here also along with the rest of the country at Kachari Maidan under the aegis of the Biswanath district administration in association with Patanjali Yog Samiti, Prajapita Brahmakumari, AASU, among others. State Irrigation and Handloom and Textile Minister Ranjit Dutta, Biswanath MLA Pramod Borthakur, DC, Biswanath Pallav Gopal Jha etc took part in the programme as the guest of honour. The programme was conducted by Loknath Shastri of District Patanjali Yog Samiti while it was inaugurated by the Minister Ranjit Dutta by lighting the earthen lamp.

DOOMDOOMA: The 2nd International Yoga Day was observed at Tea City Doomdooma too. The NCC cadets of Hoonlal HS School and Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya performed yogasana at Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya under the guidance of yoga teachers Biren Sonowal and Hiranmoyee Sonowal. The day was inaugurated by the headmaster of Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya, Prabin Mazumder and NCC officer of 26 Assam ( I ) coy NCC unit, Digboi Samarjit Singh and Tapan Sutradhar attended the programme.

The army unit stationed at Daisa observed the day at Kordoiguri High School field where students, teachers and local youths participated in mass yogasana.

The day was also observed at Doomdooma College by the NCC unit of the college. Various organisations observed the day at Doomdooma Town Field and Doomdooma Marwari Panchayati Bhawan.

Mushalpur: The 2nd International Yoga day was observed in different parts of Baksa district. An incessant overnight downpour that subsided to a drizzle towards the morning however dampened the overall enthusiasm forcing the yoga lovers to organise the programme indoors.

A yoga programme was organised by Nikashi High School in collaboration with 1st Assam Bn , NCC with good participation of students and teachers of Gyanpeeth Mahavidyalaya (Jr College) Nikashi, Modern English School, Nikashi, Indralal Pathak Girls� High School, Lakshmipur High School, Aastha Coaching Centre, Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Nikashi and neighbouring institutions. Yoga camps were also organised in academic and non-academic institutions in the Army, CRPF, SSB and other security agency camps at Mushalpur and other parts of the district. The district, block and primary units of Bharat Swabhiman Trust and Patanjali Yog Samiti also organised yoga camps in different parts of the district.

Namrup: Synchronising with the International Day of Yoga, the day was observed at Namrup Gandhi Maidan�s Indoor Stadium under the auspices of the BVFCL administration in collaboration with CISF and Patanjali Yogpith, Namrup. A total of 300 participants took part. Earlier Sabita Singh inaugurated the said programme.

Patacharkuchi: The International Yoga Day was observed at Pathsala town where the BJP members and large number of citizens of the area took part. Phani Pathak, the district president BJP in his address said that health is wealth and yoga is necessary for proper health care.

MORIGAON: The 2nd International Yoga Day was observed in the entire Morigaon district with enthusiasm. The main function was held at Tarun Ram Phukan playground here under the auspices of the Morigaon district administration, where thousands of students and senior citizens took part. Rakesh Kumar, DC, Morigaon and Rama Kanta Deori, MLA, Morigaon also participated in the function.

On the other hand, the Day was also observed at Morigaon Bihutoli under the auspices of the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) in collaboration with the Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Morigaon. The Day was also observed in five development blocks of the district where the employees of several departments like Education, Health and Sports etc., took part.
