International Day of Air Traffic Controllers celebrated

JALUKBARI, Oct 20 - The air traffic controllers (ATCs) of Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), Guwahati celebrated International Day of Air Traffic Controllers today on the airport premises.

The day is celebrated on October 20 every year to honour the millions of air traffic controllers around the world who work round the clock to keep the skies safe.�

On the occasion, ATC Guild (North East Region) organised an event where the heads of various departments of Airports Authority of India (AAI) and various stakeholders (Airlines, Met, CISF, etc.) were also present to celebrate the spirit of the day.

DK Kamra, Regional Executive Director (NER) appreciated the dedication and efforts put in by the ATCs to carry out the day-to-day operations with efficiency and safety despite the tremendous growth rate in the aviation sector, particularly in the north-eastern region. He also appreciated the controllers for working dedicatedly even in adverse conditions.

On the occasion cakes and sweets were distributed among all the staff working at the LGBI Airport, besides the passengers. �Air traffic controllers being the core of the safest and the most efficient means of transport; that is air travel, they have always been and remain the key element in the safe, efficient and environmentally-responsible ATC network we have today. Controllers are the most flexible and adaptable elements of the system readily able to grow with continuing evolving procedures,� he said.

Those who addressed the gathering included APD, Guwahati, Ramesh Kumar; ATS In-charge Jabira M Yaseen and ATC Guild (I) NER, Regional Secretary Prabhakar Prabhat.
