Inter-school storytelling contest on Dec 9

GUWAHATI, Nov 22 - An inter-school storytelling competition �Spin A Tale� is being organised for students of classes II to IX at Vivekananda Kendra here on December 9 from 9 am.

The event is being organised by Headway, which has been regularly conducting such events for children. The competition will be judged by Mitra Phukan, author of several books for children in English, a UNICEF Award winner and a classical vocalist.

Children would be divided into three groups. Group A will have students of classes VIII and IX and the themes in this group are great lives and stories of wit and wisdom. Students of classes V to VII will be placed in Group B and the themes are folk tales and stories about spirits and genies. Group C will students of classes II to IV and the themes will be fantasy world or fairy tales.

The best two storytellers in each group would be awarded trophies and prizes along with certificates of merit. Besides, there will be prizes for best story, youngest impressive storyteller, most interactive storyteller and most confident storyteller and many more surprise prizes. All participants will be given certificates of participation, a press release stated.
