GUWAHATI, Jan 25: The St Francis de Sales Higher Secondary School, Narengi organized an inter-school online debate competition on Monday.

The topic of the competition was: ‘Artificial intelligence will seriously hamper economic development, create unemployment and social instability and drive technological development to reduced human worth and existence’.

Altogether 14 schools of the city participated in the competition.

The first two winners in the ‘for the motion’ category were Harshita Jain of Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, Amingaon and Mayusha Kashyap of Shrimanta Shankar Academy, Dispur respectively.

In the ‘against the motion’ category Sarthak Choudhury of Maharishi Vidya Mandir and Namrata Nayak of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Noonmati respectively were the first two winners.

The first prize winners in both the categories won Rs 5,000 each along with e-certificates for participation in the competition. The second prize winners bagged Rs 3,000 each along with e-certificates.
