Inter-college music contest held

GUWAHATI, April 7 - The All Assam Inter-College Geetikavi Pravati Prasad Baruva Music Competition was organised by Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College today in its auditorium, stated a press release.

The music competition was held to pay tribute to the State�s legendary music composer, lyricist and cultural icon Geetikavi Parvati Prasad Baruva.

The inaugural session of the event was attended by three daughters of Parvati Prasad Baruva � Santana Baruah, Bandana Hazarika and Kalpana Borkakoti, and a host of other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Pravati Prasad Baruva�s eldest daughter Santana Baruah gave a very poignant complement to the College family for organising such a beautiful event in commemoration of her father�s timeless songs.

Renowned All India Radio A-Grade composer Jagya Bezbaruah, eminent singers Namita Bhattacharya and Malabika Bora were the honourable judges in the competition. Students from different colleges of the State participated in the competition which was inaugurated by Dr Amburam Gogoi.

Mrinmoyee Chetia of Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology won the 1st prize, Nibedita Kalita of SK Hazarika College won the 2nd prize and Nabashree Tamuli Phukan of B Barooah College won the 3rd prize.
